How the Symmetrical AWD System
Works
Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive is different than
other AWD systems. How? All four wheels work full-time. There's a center
differential that adapts the front and rear axles to different South
Carolina driving conditions. At every moment, power is being sent to all
the wheels. There's no waiting game like with some AWD systems. The
Subaru AWD system is always redirecting the power of the wheels with the
best traction - it's an ongoing process that produces a more confident
behind-the-wheel experience for you.
Whether you're
powering through snow, ice, rain, or tougher terrain, you'll have a
hardworking system that will keep the vehicle well balanced and give the
benefit of instantaneous response. There's no road connection like the
one you'll have with Symmetrical All-Wheel
Drive.
Symmetrical AWD Pairs with SUBARU BOXER
Engine
The Subaru-branded AWD system is only one
part of the performance equation. There's also the SUBARU BOXER® engine
that combines the effects of efficiency and power. It's the heart of the
Subaru Outback, Subaru Impreza, and every other model. It has a
horizontal design and sits in line with the Symmetrical AWD system. The
constant transfer of power to the wheels is made possible by the SUBARU
BOXER® engine. There's also a low, flat profile that gives the Subaru
Forester a better center of gravity for cornering.
